Ms. Goldie
Working in my upstairs home studio, I was concentrating on finishing a job when I heard a lot of banging in the front of our home. I went downstairs, but did not see anyone at the door, or any reason for the noise. I went back to work. Then more banging. This time it lasted a long time, so I was able to hear it was coming from a small front window.

Looking outside, I saw my chicken, Ms. Goldie, in the flower box with the geraniums, furiously flapping her wings. Leaves, dirt and flowers were flying all around. I left her rearranging the flower box and went back to work. Then a loud chorus of cackling hens and the rooster began. It went on for a long time and then abruptly stopped. I went downstairs and looked out the window, no chicken chorus, no Ms. Goldie. But, in the window box in a nest of geranium leaves was a pink egg. It was her first egg, and the chickens were all cheering for her.
